Abstract
Oppressive, mysterious, everyday dwellings; institutional places, mental places as well: libraries and museums are such contradictory public build-ings. This issue deals with the topic (after a foreword by the editor), through a contribution about libraries by Guido Mazzoni and one about museums by Sergio Pace.
