UniCA Open Journals is the University of Cagliari electronic publishing hosting service. The publications provide  immediate open access to all of their articles. The University signed the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities , joining in on the global drive for the free accessibility of research and all scientific knowledge.   
This service uses Open Journal Systems, a software platform developed by the Public Knowledge Project, to support the publishing process, including submission, peer-review and online publication.



 

Journals

  • ABside

    ABside is an international peer-reviewed, open access journal of Art History of the University of Cagliari. ABside is ranked as scientific journal for academic Areas 10 and 8 ANVUR (the national agency in charge of evaluating university and research institutes in Italy). The journal accepts unpublished papers in Italian, English, Spanish and French. It has an annual periodicity in continuous publication (CP), starting from the Call for Papers with closure of the number at the end of the year.

  • América Crítica

    América Crítica is the international peer-reviewed, open access journal of the CISAP (Centro Interdipartimentale di Studi sull'America Pluriversale) of the University of Cagliari
    It is a trans-disciplinary scholarly journal focusing on the American continent and its diverse social and cultural spaces. América Crítica aims at stimulating the debate on issues such as self-determination, appropriation and transformation of spaces and identities in the American continent.
    América Crítica is rated as a scientific journal by ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System) for áreas 10 and 11. In addition, it is indexed in Dialnet, ERIH PLUS, Latindex (Directorio; Catálogo 2.0), MLA - Modern Language Association, Portal del Hispanismo, REDIB.
    América Crítica will publish articles in French, English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Contributes in American native languages are also welcome, provided that an English, Italian or Spanish translation is submitted.

  • ArcheoArte

    ArcheoArte è una rivista scientifica internazionale, peer-reviewed e open access dedicata allo studio di valori e significati del patrimonio culturale in tutti i campi dell’Archeologia e della Storia dell’Arte. ArcheoArte è classificata dall’ANVUR (Agenzia Nazionale di Valutazione del sistema Universitario e della Ricerca) come rivista scientifica dell’Area 10. ArcheoArte accoglie contributi scientifici inediti in italiano, inglese e spagnolo, caratterizzati da originalità e innovatività. Ha periodicità annuale.

  • Between

    Between is the international, peer-reviewed and open access Journal of the Italian Association for the Theory and Comparative History of Literature - Compalit.  The journal is published twice a year.

  • Bollettino di Studi Sardi

    Il BSS, rivista open access e peer-review, è  uno spazio di confronto fra studiosi - filologi, linguisti, storici - che frequentano discipline diverse ma sono accomunati dalla prospettiva storica e, sovente, discutono dal proprio punto di vista di argomenti strettamente connessi, che vedono nella Sardegna e nello spazio Mediterraneo il proprio nodo focale. Il BSS è un modello aperto di rivista, che porta a privilegiare, nella pubblicazione dei contributi, le tematiche agli steccati rigidi.

    Cartagine. Studi e Ricerche (CaSteR) is the international, academic, peer-reviewed and open access Journal of the Scientific Society “Italian Archaeological School of Carthage (SAIC)” .
    CaSteR is classified as an international scientific journal by the European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH Plus); it is indexed in MIAR and is present in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) database of Clarivate Analytics (WoS) and in EBSCO databases.
    It is ranked journal of “Classe A-ANVUR” for academic area 10/A1 and 10/D1

  • Critical Hermeneutics

    Critical Hermeneutics is a biannual international journal, which promotes theoretical and moral studies of philosophy. It is inspired in particular by the model, procedural style, schools of reference, research itinerary and thematic articulations of Paul Ricoeur’s (1913-2005) work.
    In his Du texte à l’action (1986), the French philosopher defined his methodology and speculative work as follows: (a) a 'reflexive philosophy' that remains (b) within the 'sphere of Husserlian phenomenology' as (c) its 'hermeneutical variation'. Read more

    Layers. Archeologia Territorio Contesti is a peer-reviewed open access journal which focuses on archaeological research into the Landscape Archaeology. Studies of sites, results of scientific excavations and studies on artefacts found in the excavations fall into this field.

    Medea is the international, peer-reviewed and open access Journal of Intercultural Studies of the Laboratorio "Xenoi: pratiche, immagini, parole" (University of Cagliari) and of the Laboratorio "Valdrada" (University of Perugia).

  • Pandemos

    Pandemos. Rivista di scienze umane, politiche e sociali is a yearly peer-reviewed open-access academic journal, that provides a free forum for scholarly debate, where the globality and the complexity of the human experience can be observed from different angles, in line with an epistemological-methodological perspective of commitment to multidisciplinarity, multiculturalism and multidimensionality.

  • Rhesis. International Journal of Linguistics, Philology and Literature

    Rhesis. International Journal of Linguistics, Philology and Literature is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal, founded in 2010 and published by the Department of Letters, Languages and Cultural Heritage of the University of Cagliari. It published two issues, Rhesis – Linguistics and Philology and Rhesis – Literature, on a yearly basis. Both issues contained research articles and notes.


    In 2023, Rhesis underwent a significant change in its publishing model, becoming an Open Access journal on the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform of the University of Cagliari. It also moved from publishing issues on an annual basis to publishing articles continuously as soon as they are accepted and typeset. This enables a more frequent and timely dissemination of research.

  • Studj romanzi

    Uscita col suo primo numero nel 1903, «Studj romanzi» risulta oggi, sia pure fra alterne vicende, la più antica rivista di filologia romanza italiana, espressione di quella scuola romana che Ernesto Monaci sin dal 1872 (ma il primo fascicolo uscì nel 1873), con la «Rivista di Filologia romanza», aveva dotato di un organo periodico specialistico, aperto sul piano internazionale (condirettori erano Luigi Manzoni e Edmund Stengel) e insieme destinato ad accogliere i lavori dei migliori ilologi romanzi italiani e degli allievi che sarebbero usciti dall’insegnamento romano dello stesso Monaci.

    Anuac is an international, peer-reviewed, Open Access journal of the Italian Society of Cultural Anthropology (SIAC). Anuac fosters and promotes the dissemination of anthropology, and publishes innovative, original research contributions in all fields of social and cultural anthropology. Anuac publishes articles, essays, research reports, themed sections, review articles, single book reviews, film reviews, museum and exhibitions reports, interviews and other contributions focusing on topics relevant to anthropology.
