Paragraphs of a Viewer. On the Representation of Renaissance Women in Movies
Abstract
Gathering clues on representations of women in the Renaissance, in literature, cinema, TV and comics, we identify thematic nuclei that are recurrent but have evolved in the direction of a progressive enhancement of different female characters. The predominant character of the representations identified is to conceive. within the culture of the Renaissance and the ancien régime as a whole, transgressive elements that propose in the social imaginary a type of woman that is questioning, provocative and, without a doubt, open to a new paradigm.
