Restoration and enhancement of the zaouïa de Sidi Abu al-Hasan al-Karrây à Sfax
Abstract
This paper aims on the one side to highlight the Zaouïa of Sidi Belhsan al-Karray, one of the richest monuments in the Medina of Sfax. On the other side it intends to document the conservation methodology used, paying particular attention to the preservation of original aesthetic value and the historical traits through the preservation of the ancient nature and documented authenticity. As a result, the conservative restoration of this monument was carried out by means of a measured action which took into consideration also its spatiality, its temporality and its materiality.
