Some thoughts on two sets of latrines in Uthina
Abstract
The house discovered about ten years ago in Uthina contains two sets of remarkably well-preserved latrines. The first complex, consisting of three-seat latrines, was likely exclusively used by the inhabitants of the domus. The second one is formed of seven-seat latrines inserted in niches. These latrines, although part of the house, are only accessible from the street along the facade of the house. Their encroachment on public streets, the large number of seats and their planimetric location all favour semi-public or even public use.
