How a book becomes a film
Abstract
The two rereadings proposed –Pouillon’s review of Le Rouge et le Noir by Autant-Lara (1954), and a double interview confirming the fruitful collaboration between Chiara and Lattuada for the realization of Venga a prendere il caffé da noi (1970) – show in different ways recurring problems of adaptation, such as the weight of the ending and the potentialities (and traps) of the transposition from word to image.
