Looks on the East: Corrado Feroci and the Thailand's Artistic Westernization
Abstract
The essay describes the role the Tuscan sculptor Corrado Feroci played in the westernization process of the Kingdom of Siam, eventually Thailand. With his portraits and monumental sculptures, Feroci has radically changed the way in which the ruling class has handed down its image, as well as founding the first academy of fine arts in Bangkok, directing with his teaching all the main Thai artists of the after the twentieth century.
