“Welcome a beautiful naked female body”: repression’s different sides in 1960
Abstract
Repression comes not only from official prohibitions but also from stubborn prejudices. That’s what shows the article by Indro Montanelli we republish, an article first published on “Corriere della Sera” at the end of 1960 (when scandalous works come out one after the other, and the debate about censorship is more fervent than ever). On one hand Montanelli attacks Catholic party’s moralism, but on the other hand he blames transgressive movies: under an apparently liberal attitude the article conceals a quite reactionary mentality.
