Politics and Aesthetics: The Unsolved Issue of Marxist Critique
Abstract
The debate on politics and aesthetics developed in the Thirties of the 20th century, especially in the Marxist theory, with important specifications of Gramsci and Benjamin. Today, when we talk of commitment, it is necessary for literary criticism to start again from this debate, from its issues and unsolved problems, to deal adequately with the perspectives opened by Cultural Studies, following the theories of Neo-Marxists, such as Jameson and Eagleton.
