The contribution of Latin American political ecology to critical environmental studies
Abstract
We collect here some contributions, by scholars in Latin American political ecology, to critical environmental studies, understood as both an alternative theoretical proposal and a response to the present environmental crisis. We present the partial results of a wider research, which aims to analyze the interventions of those Latin American authors that, directly or indirectly, address environmental issues. In particular, we expose the main principles of political ecology and its relations with Latin American critical theory. Both fields share interest in identity issues in common social and environmental contexts, in which they recognize each other.
