International Journal of Linguistics, Philology and Literature</em> is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal, founded in 2010 and published by the Department of Letters, Languages and Cultural Heritage of the University of Cagliari. It published two issues, <em>Rhesis – Linguistics and Philology</em> and <em>Rhesis – Literature</em>, on a yearly basis. Both issues contained research articles and notes.</p> <p>In 2023, Rhesis underwent a significant change in its publishing model, becoming an Open Access journal on the <a href="https://ojs.unica.it/">OJS </a>(Open Journal Systems) platform of the University of Cagliari. It also moved from publishing issues on an annual basis to publishing articles continuously as soon as they are accepted and typeset. This enables a more frequent and timely dissemination of research.</p> en-US rhesis@unica.it (Redazione Rhesis) ojs@unica.it (Anna Laura Carrus) Sat, 08 Jun 2024 11:45:05 +0200 OJS 3.1.1.2 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 https://ojs.unica.it/index.php/rhesis/article/view/5988 <p class="Abstract">The verbalisation of emotions in idioms often involves the description of physiological reactions or non-verbal behaviour that is culturally determined.</p> <p>Drawing on theories of embodiment and cognitive linguistics, this paper examines the conceptualisation of anger (<em>Ärger</em>) in German idioms in order to identify conceptual metonyms and metaphors, as well as semantic affinities and convergences between phrasemes that, on a literal level of meaning, evoke different images in the representation of this emotional state.</p> <p>The analysis is carried out from a semantic-cognitive point of view on the basis of an inventory of idioms taken from various phraseological dictionaries, while their uses and functions in context are illustrated by explanatory examples extrapolated from the German Web 2020 corpus.</p> Ilaria Meloni ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ojs.unica.it/index.php/rhesis/article/view/5988 Sat, 08 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0200
